DCB participates in DMAI Convention in Florida

A delegation from Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB), part of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), has participated in the 96th Annual Convention of Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida recently.

The delegation, headed by Jerad Bachar, Director of DCB, was among approximately 1,000 individuals who attended the convention, including nearly 700 destination marketing professionals, educators, students and industry partners from more than 275 destinations, and nearly 300 exhibitors and sponsors.

DCB is a member of DMAI and joined the reputed organisation to enhance the professionalism, effectiveness, and image of Dubai and the DCB.

The convention program included the Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) programme. CDME graduates bring value to a destination team and demonstrate enhanced personal performance through effective organizational and industry leadership.

The CDME designation is recognized by the destination marketing industry as its highest educational achievement.  The CDME curriculum prepares individuals to bring forth change and deal with increased competition.

The DCB staff members are expected to earn their CDME certification by mid 2011.

Jerad Bachar said: “For 96 years the DMAI Annual Convention has been a must-attend event for destination marketing professionals.  It is the gathering where Destination Marketing professionals connect with others who know and understand the industry.  It is the leading event where the industry's top providers showcase their products and services.  It is an essential professional development and networking opportunity.
