DCB team at the SITE International Conference in Cape Town

The Dubai Convention Bureau, a division of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, attended the 35th conference of the Society of Incentive Travel Executives (SITE) in Cape Town, South Africa in early December.  SITE is a global network of meetings, travel and event professionals that consists of 2100 member in 87 different countries.

 The annual SITE conference consists of skill building presentations and seminars. One of the keynote speakers this year  was F. W. de Klerk, who was the seventh and last State President of apartheid-era South Africa, from 1989-1994, where he explained how change is important in order to thrive.  Other seminars covered topics such as; using media to improve your brand, Creating, Developing and Managing Your Personal and Professional Image, Best Practices for Sustainable Tourism, etc.

 Also present was CNN’s 2009 Hero, Doc Hendley, to explain how he installed water systems in dozens of refugee camps in Africa.

 The next annual SITE conference will be held in Las Vegas next year from 13th – 15th October 2011, right after IMEX America.
