From start to finish it was the best organized, very productive, most interesting and fun event of its kind I have ever participated in.   The meeting with IIA UAE went very well also and we are underway to discuss partnership opportunities for hosting events in Dubai.

  Our research for the Convention 2020 study suggests the global conventions and exhibitions market will undergo fundamental changes in the coming decade and we believe Dubai is well placed to capitalise on these developments.Whilst the market in the developed economies could be sluggish and see a lot of competition, there is likely to be huge growth in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Dubai is well positioned to capitalise on these opportunities. Dubai's brand is now well known in the conventions marketplace, there is positive 'word of mouth' on the experience from those who have attended events there recently and there is growing interest from organisations and associations in Europe who want to move events closer to Asia in order to attract this large and growing market. Dubai is well positioned geographically to tap these opportunities. Dubai's conventions and exhibitions facilities are also well proven and prices in local hotels have come more into line after the downturn - making them more attractive to event organisers - alongside the widespread airline route coverage into Dubai from around the world.
   
  However, while there is great opportunity, there is also growing competition.... The challenge will be to ensure exceptional levels of service, constant innovation and in-depth research on changing industry trends and client sector developments. Two major plus points for Dubai in this regard are the professionalism of the Convention Bureau and its membership of the Best Cities Global Alliance. This is a multi-city alliance of eight locations around the world with a strong focus on the conventions sector. The members work together to develop, share and extend best practices in convention destination marketing and are increasingly doing co-ordinated marketing - which means that the member locations are promoting each other and helping to differentiate themselves from competitor destinations.

  Having thanked you at the close of the sessions at the ITT Conference in Dubai, I wanted to record, from me personally and all of the ITT Board, our sincerest thanks for hosting the 2009 ITT Conference in Dubai.

   

  I have no hesitation whatsoever in saying that it has to be one of the most successful ITT Conferences ever. The hotel service levels, the conference room, the technical production, the welcome and farewell events and the transfers were all superb. The feedback has been extremely positive and I feel sure that delegates will have returned from Dubai with renewed enthusiasm for the destination, or with an eagerness to explore more if it was their first visit.
